Campgrounds

Field Camp has two primary campsites detailed below. We also take advantage of the outdoors of Western Albemarle and particularly the nearby National Forests and National Parks for our hikes and adventures.

Blue Ridge Campground

The 14-acre Blue Ridge Campground (1275 Owensville Road) features the century-old natural water Blue Ridge Pool, playing fields, and pavilion. The property is on the National Register of Historic Places due the Pool, a 100-yard-long spring-fed and cold blue pool that is an oasis on summer days.

Camp Albemarle

Camp Albemarle (1675 4-H Way in Free Union) features the lodge shown here, 4 cabins, 2 bathhouses, a big pavilion, a big playing field, and a half mile of frontage on the beautiful Moormans River. It is surrounded by forest, and though only 15 minutes from Charlottesville, it feels remote from town.

Directions

The Blue Ridge Campground is at 1275 Owensville Road, and is shown below as a star on the lower left. From the Bypass, take 250 West/Ivy Road to Route 676/Owensville Road, make a right, and the property is 1.7 miles on the right. Camp Albemarle is at 1675 4-H Way, and is shown on the top of the image below. From the Bypass, take Route 601/Barracks Road west, and turn right after 4.8 miles on Free Union Road, go 3.1 miles and the camp’s driveway is on the left.
